Job Description

Role Overview

The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in identifying and pursuing growth opportunities for Perspectum within the pharmaceutical/BioTech sectors. They possess a blend of scientific knowledge, business acumen, and strong relationship-building skills to drive revenue growth and expand Perspectum’s market presence.

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential partnerships within the pharmaceutical, clinical, scientific, and technology industries.
  • Accurately maintain and develop prospect/client data via Perspectum’s internal systems. ∑ Identify and build relationships with prospective customers, eventually leading to a high rate of successful conversations to contracts and revenue for Perspectum.
  • Network and liaise with medical and industry experts.
  • Maintaining good stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Regular competitor intelligence tracking.
  • Identify opportunities and support in successful bids for new business, including the writing of bids and proposals.
  • Working to high quality standards for ISO27001 and ISO13485
  • Construct, maintain and meet budgeting and constructing service proposals for existing/prospective customers.
  • Updating sales forecasts and expectations for contracts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and innovation within the Business Development team.
  • Gather, analyse, and interpret market intelligence, including customer insights, competitor analysis, and industry trends. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate market intelligence into planning and execution processes, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including project management, research and development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments and ensure that Perspectum remains at the forefront of innovation and best practices. ∑ Attending and representing Perspectum at international conferences and events, travelling internationally when required.

Desirable

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the industry landscape, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape to inform business development strategies.
  • Line manage and mentor Business Development team members

Personal Specification

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or related field.
  • Experience of working in a business development or sales background.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to problem solve over a complex range of tasks subject to computing, financial, personnel and time constraints.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to rapidly prioritise tasks in response to unexpected opportunities or risks.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal departments, building strong working relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills, primarily Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management and Sales Force software.

Desirable

  • Experience within BioTech or Medical Devices industry.
  • Strong business acumen and financial team management skills.
  • Advanced degree in business, life sciences, or related field.
