Job Description
The role
This role forms part of the Group Legal function, and will report to the Lead Counsel, Motorsport. It will involve supporting the work of the team’s lawyers and, with appropriate training and supervision, managing your own workstreams. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with drafting of:
- sponsorship agreements with existing and prospective partners of F2, F3 and F1 Academy
- race promotion agreements
- team entry and supply agreements for F2, F3 and F1 Academy
- support race agreements and guidelines with other motorsport series and on-track activations
- hospitality activations and ticket reseller arrangements
- intermediary, consultancy, presenter and ambassador agreements
- activation waivers
- supplier standard terms and statements of work
- novation, assignment and transfer agreements
- NDAs.
- Document management for the Motorsport legal team including:
- arranging for documents to be signed by directors and counterparties, scanned, stored online/physically and circulated to counterparties and ensuring that execution versions contain all agreed provisions
- assisting in document production (e.g. taking manuscript changes on a document and creating a new soft copy of the document for legal counsel)
- Proof-reading documents (inserting electronic clause references, sense-checking, checking definitions and formatting, looking for typos).
- Preparing and maintaining contract summaries.
- Undertaking ad-hoc research tasks.
- Maintaining and updating the legal department’s electronic document archive.
Candidate profile
- You have an impressive academic background and 1+ years’ experience working within a leading City or national law firm or relevant in-house legal team
- You have some experience of working with commercial contracts and ideally some experience in legal drafting
- You are organised and pride yourself on your high degree of attention to detail
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
- You are agile and can multi-task and deliver results under pressure to a deadline
- You are a team player and understand the importance of building relationships with your clients and peers
- You are enthusiastic, have a strong “can-do” attitude and a willingness to expand your skillset
- With appropriate training and supervision, you enjoy taking responsibility for your own workstreams and are a solution-orientated problem solver
- You are proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
- You are curious about the business of sport and Formula 1
