Job Description

Are you a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on solving problems, improving processes, and driving operational excellence? We're looking for an experienced engineer to join our client, a well known manufacturing business and play a key role in enhancing manufacturing performance through continuous improvement, process development, and root cause analysis.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for improving existing manufacturing processes while developing and implementing new production methods to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity. Working closely with Production, Quality, Design, and Supply Chain teams, you'll identify opportunities for improvement, resolve manufacturing issues, and ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and improve existing manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and carry out structured root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Pareto Analysis, and FMEA.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing (NPI), ensuring robust and efficient production processes.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, PFMEAs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and production challenges.
  • Monitor production performance using KPIs and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement.
  • Support equipment validation, process capability studies, and manufacturing trials.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

About You

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience implementing new manufacturing processes and improving existing production methods.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting structured root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process validation and process optimisation.
  • Experience with production documentation, process mapping, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
