About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Learning Mentor to support young people in Lewisham . This role involves day-to-day work with students who may need additional guidance around behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
This position offers flexibility and the potential to transition into a full-time role . You will work directly with students on a one-to-one or small-group basis, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and positive behavioural strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with students to promote positive behaviour and self-esteem.
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring sessions focused on emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Help students develop strategies to manage emotions, improve focus, and make positive choices.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to support consistent behaviour management.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, empathy, and consistency.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or youth-focused setting.
- Understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain professional boundaries.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in education, youth-work, psychology, or related fields.
- Experience delivering behaviour interventions or mentoring programmes.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
