Role and Responsibilities
Our investment banking client is looking to hire a master agreement negotiator with Equities and Fixed Income experience gained in-house. Preference would be for a UK and/or Commonwealth qualified Solicitor, but other applicants with relevant experience may be considered. The role will be based in the London office.
The successful candidate will assist in the negotiation of master agreements and ancillary documentation across derivatives, stock lending and repo trading for our clients Sales and Trading divisions, including Equity Derivatives, Securities Finance, Treasury repo, Credit Repo, Securities Finance and Fixed Income. The Sales and Trading divisions are based primarily in EMEA and Hong Kong. Support is also provided to other corporate teams including Credit/Risk, Collateral Management, Tax, Projects, Operations and Compliance. The role will report into the Head of Sales and Trading Legal, EMEA and will work closely with other members of the Sales and Trading Legal Team.
The successful candidate would have experience in:
- Negotiation of derivatives and ancillary documentation (ISDA and CSA) with both buy and sell-side counterparties. Experience in negotiation of Equity Swap MCAs preferred but not essential.
- Negotiation of repo and ancillary documentation (GMRA) with both buy and sell-side counterparties. Experience of other documentation such as DRV and FBF preferred but not essential.
- Negotiation of stock lending and ancillary documentation (GMSLA) with both buy and sell-side counterparties. Experience of other documentation such as DRV preferred but not essential.
- Regulatory matters as they relate to master agreement documentation and trading.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and documentation risk controls and adhering to associated guidelines and procedures.
- Identifying processes to be improved around data capture and technology.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to establish client trading relationships and advising on risk controls and legal issues in a commercial manner.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders in Credit, Risk Management, Legal, Treasury, Tax and Sales to negotiate contractual terms and respond to internal and external questions.
- Proactively resolving blockages in negotiation by collaborating with other stakeholders.
- Assisting in the implementation of projects and longer-term objectives.
Person Specification
Relevant experience in a UK financial institution will be an advantage, however, the candidate need not have direct experience in all areas listed above but be enthusiastic and keen to learn.
