Quantity Surveyor required (Civil Engineering). A gilt edged opportunity, not only for healthy rewards, but for a lead role in a growing region, for a growing company! This is a hybrid role, with a mix of site, office and home working. All projects are within 10 miles of Poole/Bournemouth Melior Associates are proudly working on behalf of vastly expanding, multidisciplinary civil engineering business who operate from 9 strategic offices across the South, South West, South East regions and a successful trading history spanning over 4 decades. This is a privately owned group, who’s revenue has increased by 52% inside 5 years and is set to grow a further 22% in the next fiscal year to £200m t/o and solid plans to expand to new regions in 2024. An impressive 85% of work is procured through long term frameworks and alliances in the transport sector The company is run by industry leading, highly motivated people who offer customers innovative civil engineering solutions by utilising extensive in-house resources, technical expertise and local knowledge and guided by a strong code of ethics. The Role Part of a successful and motivated commercial team who deliver civil engineering schemes between £0.5 -2m as part of a long standing framework. Duties will include: * To deliver a successful commercial outcome to the projects. * Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy. * Maintain effective communication with contracts managers, project managers, managing / project QS and other associated disciplines. * Manage, supervise and mentor your “reports” within the commercial structure. * Provide input to contacts with client’s representatives. * Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents. * Commercial management of subcontractors including payments preparation, final account work, and inputting into dispute resolution. * Monitor cost of site resources. * Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports and present to senior management. * Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy. * Understand and promote usage of Company Procedures and suggest improvements to senior management. * Involvement in change management including input to the programme ‘established approach’. * Ensure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contract. * Provide commercial advice to the site team, and management on all contractual issues. * Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings. * Assist with the production of insurance claims. * Assist in defining and delivery of commercial training to all site staff. * Provide input to risk management of projects. Who are we looking for? Qualifications & Experience The following are mandatory requirements: Qualified in either Civils or Quantity Surveying to HNC/HND/Degree Level Practical NEC Experience Evidence of involvement in and understanding of basic contract law and contractual obligations.
