Job Title: Finance Technician Location: Lincolnshire Salary: 13.02/hour Contract: Temporary, (from 1st July - 31st December 2024) Hybrid: Largely working from Home with 1 day in office Closing date: 10th June Role Overview: Harper recruitment is working alongside a local authority to hire a creative and innovative Finance Technician to assist in providing support to Budget Holders to manage budgets, improve efficiency and achieve value for money. Main duties of role: * Co-ordinating and delivering financial planning to all revenue and capital budgets * Budget Monitoring: Liaising with Budget Holders, Head of Finance and Senior Managers to identify budget pressures and advising on financial positions and key issues * Financial Reporting: Assist in developing systems to improve the accuracy of outturn projections especially for large or high-risk budgets. * Efficiency saving: Identifying areas for improved efficiency, developing plans to implement this and monitoring efficiency savings through the year through reporting * Value for Money: Using national and local data to assess value for money and develop strategies to improve this * Ensuring grants are fully utilised * Closure of Accounts: assisting in the closure of accounts process and ensuring financial statements are correct * Maintaining Accounts: Undertaking budget virements, recharges and journal transfers * Capital: Monitoring and reporting on capital expenditure * Training: Completing monthly Bank Reconciliations, producing a monthly school bulletin and letter, calculating early years interim and final payments, mentoring colleagues where appropriate Required knowledge and skills: * Excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with senior management, contractors, members of the public and stakeholders * Excellent customer service * An understanding of best practice for financial management and the ability to implement this via policy and procedures * Preferably AAT membership or working towards it * Good I.C.T Skills Additional Information: Please note that this role is a mixture of both customer service and finance. It is a largely work from home job. The first 2-3 weeks will be office-based and then 1 day a week in the office onwards
