Role Overview
Commercially aware and constantly looking for new business opportunities, deputy shop managers motivate their teams and create a safe and energised work environment. They maintain high standards, a strong drive to achieve results, and are accountable for their business.
The role is empowered, varied and busy, offering the opportunity to collaborate with amazing colleagues. Shop managers play a pivotal part in our success and can make a real difference. Our volunteer model empowers volunteers to take over most shop tasks, including running the shop in the manager’s absence.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Ability to support the development and maintenance of an inclusive and diverse team that can manage day‑to‑day shop activities.
- Commercial awareness to support effective retail processes and strong merchandising.
- Collaborative working with the Shop Manager and others to build positive relationships, provide excellent customer service, and engage with the local community and civil society organisations.
- Resilience to everyday pressures, managing conflicting demands and seeking appropriate support, advice and guidance when needed.
- Numeracy and financial literacy, able to interpret basic financial reports, monitor budgets and maintain shop administrative systems.
