We have an exciting new opportunity for an EC&I PROJECT ENGINEER
The successful Candidate will be supporting our client, who is a major player in the global nuclear power generation industry. Operating on a UK nuclear licensed site, they specialise in safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services, and are based at Capenhurst, near Chester.
This role can be worked on a hybrid basis.
A candidate with SC clearance already in place would be an advantage. Otherwise, must have the ability to obtain and retain Clearance, be a UK Citizen and not have worked outside the UK for the past 5 years.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Assessment and Implementation of control and safety system upgrades to External Gantry Crane
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful Candidate will undertake a review of the existing control methodology and safety functions of an external gantry Crane and make recommendations to rationalise the existing safety hierarchy to increase availability.
In addition the role will require the successful candidate to obtain Stakeholder approval for any modifications and manage the implementation of the proposed upgrades.
Key Accountabilities:
To undertake a detailed review of the current control system and safety functions of an external gantry crane.
Apply industry best practise,
To make recommendations for short, medium and long term modifications to align the current control methodology to industry best practice
Support the delivery and commissioning of all plant modifications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Good understanding of Engineering Design processes in a highly regulated industry,
Minimum 5 years' experience of working on a Nuclear Licenced site or, working on a significant COMAH site,
Significant experience of crane control and interlock systems.
Understanding and application of up-to-date industrial practices, related to discipline-specific engineering, including safety through design,
Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines, technologies, plant systems and processes,
Working knowledge of International and UK standards relating to engineering and design, related to discipline-specific engineering, within the nuclear industry,
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft and Autodesk applications, Document Management systems, and ERP systems (SAP is in current use with the client),
Capable of producing high quality technical documentation, including functional and technical specifications, and project documentation,
Ability to maintain and develop own technical knowledge to ensure the best, cost effective and safe solutions are proposed and implemented,
Ability to assess problems, determine feasibility and develop practical solutions,
Good communication, reporting and presentation skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline i.e., Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Member or Associate Member of a relevant engineering institute, and actively pursuing chartered status (Preferred)
Significant experience of Safety Control Systems and Crane control systems.
Demonstrable experience managing similar projects.
